A living water, untouched, just as nature shaped it. Collected without pumping or storage tanks, it flows through sand and granite before it rises.

In the heart of the Monédières hills, in the Millevaches Regional Nature Park, Limousin.

The spring

A geological journey thousands of years old

The water is collected by gravity along an underground cliff, in a bedrock of granite, mica schist and gneiss. With no limestone on its path, it keeps a very low mineral content. Its temperature and composition stay the same in summer and winter: no surface water mixes with it.

  1. Collection

Rain slowly seeps into the protected forests and wetlands of the Monédières.

  2. Filtration

It passes through a thick layer of sand, a natural filter that purifies it.

  3. Crystalline bedrock

In contact with granite, it gains its signature: very few minerals, plenty of silica.

  4. Rising

Under natural pressure, the spring rises by gravity, with no pumping or storage tank.

History

A water renowned since the 7th century

The water and the history of Treignac are closely linked. The first inhabitants gathered around a spring and a tree, at the edge of the forest.

  1. 7th century

The Saint-Méen fountains, a place of pilgrimage, are known for their benefits to the skin and eyes. The spring is Christianised between 620 and 650.

  2. 11th century

Pilgrims on the Way of Saint James stop in Treignac to enjoy its water.

  3. Today

Treignac, a village of character in Corrèze, carries on the tradition: its water is enjoyed by everyone, from babies to seniors and athletes.
